Mr G Hettiarachchi, as he is known in the field is an absolute veteran in the IME faculty and a true giant in the field of Sri Lankan photography. He got into photography at the the tender age of 13 and became one of the most successful commercial photographers of the country in a career spanning over six decades.

Mr Hettiarachchi worked for studio Donald’s until 1962, which was the most prestigious studio of country. He was then trained as a camera technician and repaired cameras under Mr Fred R Malwenna.  In 1968 he started his own studio and printing lab ‘Fotofocus’ on Queen Street, Colombo Fort.

Mr Hettiarachchi has been the assigned photographer for the Parliament of Sri Lanka and had been assigned to photograph the official portraits of two presidents Mr J. R. Jayawardhana & Mr R Premadasa.

He has lectured at many photography associations and been a Official Photographer, a Photography Instructor and a Lecturer for the Finger Print Division of the Sri Lanka Police Department. Over the years Mr hettiarachchi has judged many national and international photography competitions and he is one of the most sought after photography competition judges in the country.
